Here at Motor & Diesel Engineering, our speciality is the LR 300 Tdi and International HS 2.8 engines. Over the last 20 years, we have developed conversion kits to fit these engines in the following Land Rover vehicles: All Defender, all Range Rover pre-2002 and all Discovery pre-2003.
The International HS 2.8 engine is a larger capacity version of the 300 Tdi, it still utilises the simplicity of the 300tdi yet with more power and significantly more torque. The HS 2.8 comes as standard with a VNT turbocharger and suitably uprated fuel injection pump, these, in conjunction with the extra capacity the engine produces 135bhp as standard with 277lbf ft of torque at 1400 Rpm.

Our own 2.8300 engine:
As the International HS 2.8 is no longer in production we manufacture our own. We recondition a 300tdi cylinder block, placing the block through a special acid cleaner to remove all the rust deposits found in the water galleries. During the reconditioning process, the blocks are rebored to 93mm from the standard 90mm to take the larger pistons. New cam bearings are fitted and then built up to a complete engine.
These engines have remanufactured 300Tdi cylinder blocks rebored to 2.8 with a VNT turbocharger fitted. The engines produce the same power and torque as the standard International HS 2.8 TGV engine, all engines include the following NEW parts, cylinder head, injectors, Injection pump (reconditioned), 2.8 crankshaft, 2.8 connecting rods, 2.8 pistons, timing case, timing cover, gears, timing kit, waterpump bracket, waterpump and all gaskets. The engines are complete with NEW alternator, power steering pump and vacuum pump. (the engines are hot tested).
2.8300 Stripped engine:

A stripped engine includes: Reconditioned 300tdi cylinder block rebored to 2.8 specification and the following NEW parts: 2.8 crankshaft, 2.8 con rods, 2.8 pistons, camshaft, cylinder head, push rods, rockershaft assembly, rocker cover, thermostat housing, timing case, camshaft timing pulley, crankshaft timing pulley, oil cap and sump.
2.8300 Short block:
We recondition a 300tdi cylinder block, placing the block through a special acid cleaner to remove all the rust deposits found in the water galleries. During the reconditioning process, the blocks are rebored to 93mm from the standard 90mm to take the larger pistons. New cam bearings are fitted. In addition to the remanufactured block a short block comprises of new 2.8 crankshaft, conrods, pistons, spray jets and all water/ oil plugs.
LR 300 Tdi stripped engines:

During the reconditioning process, the blocks are rebored to the smallest oversize bore. New cam bearings are fitted and then built up to a stripped engine. A stripped engine includes the following new parts: crankshaft, con rods, pistons, camshaft, cylinder head, push rods, rockershaft assembly, rocker cover, thermostat housing, timing case, camshaft timing pulley, crankshaft timing pulley, oil cap and sump.
